rainbows
As mostly on islands the weather in Iceland changes very quickly. Locals say: "If you don't like the weather - wait a minute!" And truthfully weather situations can change within 5 min. While I was at Osar the constant change produced several rainbows. They were amazing!
Rainbows have a special significance in the Icelandic Sagas. There is even a place called Bifröst (meaning rainbow) between Osar and Borgarnes.
Bifröst means literally "shaky street of the sky". Bifröst ist the 3-coloured bridge between the world of the men and the world of the gods. This is from the germanic mythology.
