August 27th, Eastfjords

The Eastfjords are another beautiful area of Iceland. We had misty weather there so we enjoyed the mystical, melancholical mood of the misty mountains. There is a rock called "Alfaborg" (Elf Rock) where locals believe that the queen of Icelandic elves lived. On January 6 there is a bonfire and candle-lit procession led by the elf king and queen singing traditional elf songs.
There is also a bay where thousands of swans nest. Note on the last photo, the white dots, it's all swans. Beautiful and enchanting!
