Skagi

Skagi another very dear friend of mine at Osar. Last summer I enjoyed training him for over a month. Icelandic horses are unique in the world. Most of them have not only 3 gaits like most of our horses but also pace and tölt. To keep the race pure Iceland has prohibited to import any horses. Once an Icelandic horse has left the island, it will never be allowed to return again. These animals are not very tall but extremely strong. Iceland's history cannot be imagined without these animals. They were used for work and transport. They are still being used for the sheep round-up. It is tradition to keep horses even if one does not use them. They are no trouble and keep the grass down. These animals are able to endure the whole winter outside with no special protection!
